Strain Origin

Golden Teacher is one of the classics. This is a highly sought-after P. cubensis strain that first appeared in the 1980’s. From there, its popularity in the microscopy community has just continued to grow exponentially. Exact origin is not known, however, rumors suggest that this variety was first found on a farm in Georgia. Original specimens were said to have very thick, robust stems.

Difficulty

Golden Teacher is a very easy strain to work with, relatively. For context, it is more difficult than B+ (barely), but much easier than that of Penis Envy or Tidal Wave. Keep in mind that results may vary. No matter your skill-level, there are few strains more rewarding than this. Golden teacher is highly resilient, welcoming, and makes a great option for any skill level.

Spore Features

The spores of Golden teacher mushrooms are dark purplish to black, and sub ellipsoid on 4-spored basidia. Caps are generally dark spore printers and 40-60mm in diameter. This strain provides ample research material. Viewing GT spores under a microscope is a spectacle worth experiencing.

Rarity 

Golden Teacher is not rare at all in regard to its availability. However, it is rare to find GT spores with proven, tested genetics. Many vendors will provide mixed bags, old / unviable spores, or give you a different species all together. Cultural Significance 

Psilocybe mushrooms have seemingly taken the world by storm, in big part thanks to the Golden Teacher mushroom. Without this microscopy strain, the grassroots movement would not be as big as it is right now. In fact, GT accounts for almost 23% of all psilocybe research material in the USA! So, the cultural relevance of this mushroom is on an upward trajectory to the likes of which no other mushroom can compete. GT is one of many driving forces behind mainstream mycology.
